Operation re-build the wardrobe is a go.

I am absolutely sick of the items that are currently in my wardrobe, nothing sparks joy anymore and I can never seem to find an outfit to wear each day due to this and that just creates a bad start to the day as an outfit should fill you with confidence whereas currently my outfits just make me feel lazy and like I am trying to hide away in what used to be my comfort zone but is now far from it.

My style really isn't what I want these days, I am sick of graphic t-shirts and jeans every day as they just make me feel a bit childish and are far too casual for the sort of style I have had in mind for a long time. I have decided enough is enough now though and it is time to stop letting my confidence hold me back and instead it is time to start dressing however, I want, ignoring others opinions along the way and finally moving away from that old style I stuck to. The plan is to look like my outfits have had more thought put into them whilst carrying a more luxurious style overall.

The first step in the plan to change my style is to go through my wardrobe & drawers and have a huge declutter of absolutely everything which includes socks, shoes and accessories alongside the clothing. Whilst doing this declutter I will be...

Getting rid of items that don't align with the style I am going for

The majority of my wardrobe is filled with items from that old style I was talking about earlier, I don't need those baggy ripped jeans or character t-shirts anymore so they will all be finding a new home. If those items are no longer in my wardrobe I won't be reaching for them out of ease and I will have space for the new items I want that fit that new style.

Get rid of old worn out items

This is definitely in relation to those old plain t-shirts where the colour has faded but I hang on to them just in case or those socks where the backs are wearing out due to just how many wears I have had out of them. A fresh start with clothing that looks in perfect condition will be spot on and I think its time for those Nike socks to go at last unless for workouts.

Get rid of what doesn't fit

I am on a weight loss journey and have lost a fair bit of weight already so I know that a lot of clothing items I have had stored away or shoved to the back of my wardrobe just don't fit anymore so it is time for me to stop holding onto those and finally donate them. I also have items I have purchased items in my old style that I wanted to aim to get into however, that is no longer the case so I will be clearing these out too. There is no point keeping hold of things for the sake of it anymore.

Once everything is decluttered and any new purchases I have already made are put into the wardrobe I will be going through what I have and making a list of any gaps that appear and could do with filling. The plan going forward then is to only buy items that I really want that are going to fit that new style and what I am going to get my wear out of, I am officially done with buying for the sake of it and wasting so much money. Alongside the list I will probably end up using Pinterest & Instagram to help out with filling the gaps so I can take some inspiration for items to fill the gaps and also how to style what I already have. I am really hoping that by doing this I will be starting to rebuild a wardrobe that works for me and also helps...

> Make getting ready easier
> Make me feel more confident in myself
> Make me feel a bit better about how I look
> Make me stop wasting money on clothing I don't need

I am sure I will be heading out on some shopping trips and may even do a bit of online shopping to help with this rebuild once I have identified those gaps however, I have noticed the shops I am looking at these days have really started to change so some shops I will be checking out will be...

> Marks & Spencer
> H&M
> Zara
> Next
> Massimo Dutti
> Mango
> COS

No doubt more stores and brands will crop up over time but for now these seem to be the ones I am gravitating towards. I know that a few of these stores and some brands I am wanting to add to my wardrobe are on the expensive side so the plan is for those items to hold off buying them until I am at my goal weight and in the meantime just buying cheaper alternatives if they are only going to fit me for a few months.

Hopefully all this works and I will be in my new style rather than opting for the comfort zone, I will also be using this as a start point for regular declutter's now as I really need to keep on top of what fits and what doesn't whilst I am losing weight, I am not keeping items for the sake of it anymore. Whilst I am on my weight loss journey I am also going to be putting money to one side so when I hit my goal I can buy those treat items (the more expensive ones) from the likes of Ralph Lauren.

Going forward I am going to have that luxurious lifestyle in mind and keep referring to that and the vision board to create that wardrobe I have only dreamt of in the past. Let's just say the wardrobe re-build is only the beginning of things...

See you soon
Lucy
